In our view, the most impressive feat, though, is how it handles the "real world" of tight streets and multi-storey car parks. Here it boasts a tight 10.4-metre turning circle, which makes navigating the mini-roundabouts and narrow side streets of Chippenham feel like a breeze. You are also in luck if you need a car that can do it all, as the EV2 balances this agility with a generous 403-litre boot when you slide the rear seats forward.

For instance, you’ll notice this most when you’re out on the road for certain, where that 1,575mm height gives it a chunky, SUV-like stance that makes it feel unfazed by a rain-lashed B-road. It just feels properly screwed together, which is exactly what you want from a daily driver.

Up front, the EV2 also features the latest evolution of the "Digital Tiger Face," which replaces the traditional grille with a clean, aerodynamic panel.

From the side, the EV2 also looks incredibly purposeful thanks to its short front and rear overhangs and a relatively long 2,565mm wheelbase.

This "wheels-at-the-corners" approach, for instance, isn't just about looking sporty; it’s a mechanical necessity that allows for a much larger cabin than you’d expect in a car that is only 4,060mm long.

In our opinion, it’s one of the best-proportioned small crossovers on the market today.

Door Handles

You also get flush-fitting door handles on certain trims, which pop out when you approach the car, adding a touch of high-tech theatre to every journey. These handles also help reduce drag, which is a key reason why even the standard-range 42.2kWh battery can deliver a very respectable 197-mile range. Every line on this car serves a purpose, which is really nice to see.

Alloy Wheels

The EV2 also comes with a range of striking alloy wheel designs, starting with 16-inch wheels on the Air trim and going up to 19-inch alloys on the GT - Line models.

These larger 19-inch wheels are wrapped in 225/45 R19 tyres, which provide a significant amount of grip and a very stable feeling through the corners. It’s a setup that gives the car a "Tonka-toy" toughness, making it feel rugged and dependable.

Mind you, even on the larger wheels, the ride remains composed because the E-GMP platform is designed specifically for EVs, placing the heavy battery low down between the wheels. This gives the car a low centre of gravity, which we found makes it feel far more agile in the city than a traditional petrol hatchback. It’s a cracking bit of kit for anyone who enjoys a responsive drive.

Rear

At the back, the EV2 keeps things clean and modern with vertical LED light clusters that mirror the design of the front headlamps. The rear window is topped with a subtle spoiler that houses a high-level brake light, helping to keep the rear glass clear by directing airflow across it.

It’s a tidy design that emphasises the car’s 1,800mm width, making it look stable and secure on the motorway.

Tailgate

Crucially, though, the tailgate opens wide to reveal a boot floor that is level with the lip, making it much easier to load heavy items. So, whether you are loading a weekly shop from the local supermarket or packing for a weekend away in the Cotswolds, that 362-litre standard boot capacity is easy to access.
