The front end, for instance, is dominated by the latest model of the "Tiger Nose" grille, which is framed by what we can only say is some striking vertical LED headlights that stretch towards the wings, and look very nice.

That level of visual drama isn't just for show, either; it translates to a car that looks much wider than its 1,849mm width would suggest.

For instance, here you’ll notice how the light catches the "Twisted" metal surfacing on the doors, a detail that gives the K4 a constant sense of motion even when parked up. So, in our opinion, it is one of the most daring designs in the segment, which isn't easy to say to be frank, as it moves, in our opinion, far away from the conservative lines of the KIA XCeed for instance.

Side Profile and Silhouette

The side profile of the K4 is where the "Fastback" inspiration really comes to light, though.

As here it features a sweeping roofline that drops really elegantly towards the rear, yet clever engineering still makes sure that rear headroom isn't sacrificed, we noticed.

This sleek shape then contributes to a low drag coefficient of 0.27 Cd, which is a significant factor in how it slices through the air so quietly, helping you achieve better efficiency whether you are on a long run or just nipping to the shops.

You will notice the benefit of this most on a run up the A4 or A350, where that slippery shape helps the 1.6-litre T-GDi engine return an impressive 43.5 MPG on the combined cycle. As like most, we found that having actualy tactile switches for the climate control makes adjustments on the move much safer than digging through screen menus to find those settings.

The boot is also a highlight of the K4 package we found, offering you a generous 438 litres of space with the rear seats in their upright position, and for those that opt for the Mild-Hybrid (MHEV) model, this reduces to 328 Litres.

As here the opening is wide, and the load lip is low, which makes lifting heavy items in and out much easier on your back.
